Meeting Future Requirements

Welcome to the United States (U.S.) Department of the Navy's Atlantic Fleet Training and Testing (AFTT) Environmental Impact Statement (EIS)/Overseas Environmental Impact Statement (OEIS) website, an online resource for information concerning training and testing readiness activities that occur in the AFTT Study Area. The AFTT Study Area includes the western Atlantic Ocean along the East Coast of North America, portions of the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico.

The 2018 AFTT EIS/OEIS (Phase III) supported authorization by the National Marine Fisheries Service, as a cooperating agency, of incidental takes of marine mammals under the Marine Mammal Protection Act and incidental takes of threatened and endangered marine species under the Endangered Species Act.

When current federal regulatory permits and authorizations expire in November 2025, it is anticipated that a supplemental NEPA analysis will begin in late 2022 to support renewal of regulatory authorizations in 2025.
