Public Comments

Public input was a valuable part of the EIS/OEIS process, and the public was encouraged to submit substantive comments throughout the 60-day public comment period — which began June 30, 2017, and ended Aug. 29, 2017 — to be considered and addressed in the Final EIS/OEIS.

Comment Period Closed

The comment period is now closed. All comments were to be postmarked or received online by Aug. 29, 2017, for consideration in the Final EIS/OEIS. The U.S. Navy appreciates all of the comments received during this period. 

The Navy will continue to use previously agreed upon mitigation measures, as well as, implement new mitigation measures discussed in the Final EIS/OEIS to reduce impacts to marine species and habitats, including the North Atlantic right whale population.
