The National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) is a U.S. law that requires federal agencies to identify and analyze the reasonably foreseeable environmental effects of a proposed action before deciding whether to proceed with that action.

This is an image of the National Environmental Policy Act process. The process includes a Notice of Intent to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement, a public comment period from June 24 to July 24, 2026, the development of the Environmental Impact Statement from July 2026 to late Summer 2027, the Notice of Availability in late Summer 2027, and the Record of Decision in late Summer 2027.
