The public scoping comment period is now closed. Thank you for your participation!
Welcome
Welcome to the United States (U.S.) Department of the Navy’s (Navy) environmental planning website for the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for Home Basing F-35C Joint Strike Fighter Aircraft. This website is an online resource for information on the preparation of the EIS, the environmental review process and public involvement opportunities.
The Navy is preparing an EIS in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) of 1969 and invited public input on the scope of the EIS including identification of potential alternatives, information, and analyses relevant to the Proposed Action, identification of environmental concerns, and issues the public would like to see addressed in the EIS. Additional project information pertaining to the Proposed Action can be found in the Fact Sheet.
Thank you for your interest in providing comments during the public scoping period for the Draft EIS. The public scoping period closed on January 4, 2026. The Navy appreciates all the comments received and comments will be considered in the development of the Draft EIS, which is expected to be released in Fall 2026. During the public comment period for the Draft EIS, the public will have another opportunity to provide input.
This Proposed Action is distinct from the West Coast home basing action and record of decision that was completed in October 2014, announcing the Navy's decision to home base 100 F-35C aircraft at NAS Lemoore, California.
