The Proposed Action is to continue military readiness activities at sea and on Farallon de Medinilla within the MITT Study Area. Military readiness activities were last analyzed in the 2015 MITT EIS and the 2020 MITT Supplemental EIS. 

In addition to training and testing by the Navy and Marine Corps, the Proposed Action includes activities conducted by the Air Force, Army, and Coast Guard when those activities are similar to Navy and Marine Corps military readiness activities.

The Proposed Action also includes modernizing and sustaining an at-sea range to support training and testing activities. Proposed actions include the placement and maintenance of subsurface targets, such as training minefields, and placement of temporary instrumentation.

These actions are crucial for military readiness, personnel safety, and national defense.

Proposed Action

Continue military readiness activities, comprised of training, testing, and range modernization and sustainment, at sea and on Farallon de Medinilla (FDM) within the MITT Study Area.

 

 

 

 

  • Train and test at sea to support Primary Mission Areas
  • May include the use of active sonar, explosives, and other sources of sound.
  • Range modernization and sustainment
  • Placement and maintenance of subsurface targets, such as training minefields, and placement of temporary instrumentation.

The purpose of the Proposed Action is to ensure U.S. military services, to include the U.S. Coast Guard, can organize, train, and equip service members and personnel to meet their respective national defense missions.
