The Navy has been preparing environmental planning documents to assist with environmental compliance through a comprehensive approach first instituted by the Navy’s “At-Sea Policy” guidance in 2000. Under this policy, the Navy has completed several phases of environmental planning within the MITT Study Area.

This current Phase 4 Supplemental EIS will include an analysis of military readiness activities using new information, including an updated acoustic effects model; updated marine mammal density data, acoustic effects criteria, and thresholds; and evolving and emergent best available science.
