The National Historic Preservation Act requires federal agencies to consider the impact of their actions on historic properties. Public participation is an important part of the National Historic Preservation Act’s Section 106 process. The Action Proponents encourage all to help identify historic properties within the MITT Study Area and share information regarding the identification of or potential effects on historic properties by providing a written comment during the scoping process. Historic properties may include archaeological sites, sacred and religious sites, submerged historic resources, traditional cultural places, or historic buildings, structures, or objects.
For information about the Section 106 process, or if you are interested in becoming a consulting party, please visit the National Historic Preservation Act Section 106 Process page on the project website.
